Vee Spears photographs of children looking rather tough and menacing instead of the usual innocent and naive. It's the effortlessly cool poses and the faded colors that make these photographs truly beautiful. This is my favorite collection of photos yet.

Anatomy

I am very intrigued by miniature anatomical dolls, prosthetic limbs and taxidermy. Not in a morbid way I just think that they are all very interesting to look at and such detail goes into them. It's just a creepily wonderful art, I'd really like to see more in person.

Moscou Dolls

Karl Lagerfeld's Pre-Fall 09 collection is a true reminder of Coco Chanel's fascination with the Russian spirit during the 1920's. The collection consists of miniature moscou doll necklaces, bracelets, earrings, brooches and the matryoshka bag (which I desperately need for reasons unknown to me).

Shary Boyle

I first came across Shary's work at Floating World Comics here in Portland and was very intrigued by the raw look of her porcelain figurines. Shary is a sculptor, painter and filmmaker based out of Toronto. She has also collaborated with Peaches and Feist in creating live drawings that are then animated and projected on stage during their performances. Her imagery is so personal and moving you can't help but delve into a fantasy world.

Paranaiv

Paranaiv was created by Aspiring Art Director Are Sundnes, the site has a nice mix of photography and concepts. Here are two of my favorites, Barbie of the Undead (because Barbie is a zombie, duh) and Ponilla. Frankly Ponilla is creepy but I like it.

Blythe!

If you haven't seen these lovely big headed, tiny body dolls before then you've been seriously missing out. They were originally created in 1972 by Allison Katzman but due to a lack of interest they were only sold for a year. Then 30 years later the doll resurfaced with the New Edition of Blythe (NEO Blythe) thanks to Gina Garan and Hasbro!

One of the best features has to be the interchanging eye colors. I love all of the tiny outfits but I am quite partial to the deer bib dress. I want it in my size, please!

p.s. My wonderful boyfriend bought me my first Blythe doll last Christmas. I've been wanting one for quite some time and now I finally have one! Below is my beloved Buttercup.
